Art, Video and other assorted creations

The ethos of the punk rock movement in the 1970s is the influence for my art and video work.
From the fashion to the music,I like taking trash and turning it into treasure.
By incorporating items and images that are found in the everyday world in my art,
It creates an invitation to look at ordinary objects in an unordinary way.

City Night Desert Sky - Video Installation

I was asked to be part of a group art show called Radiant at the Radial Arts Center in June 2025.

A friend of mine was curating the show and asked me to submit a piece.
I hummed and hawed for some time about what I wanted to show.
And in pure Joi fashion, the deadline was coming up and still had no clue what to present.

Rather than creating something brand new, I decided to use some video art that I had made a year ago and
present it in a new way.
It had only been shared on Instagram and YouTube so I had a thought....
What if I just have it on a loop on a TV at the gallery?
But how should I display it?

In all of my art procrastination,  the creative components came into alignment.

I asked a colleague of mine who creates animation if he had any suggestions for gallery displays.
He lent me a Raspberry Pi that he programmed so I could loop my video.

Next step was how do I mount the TV?

During a small birthday dinner party for a friend, I shared my art display debacle with the group.
It's an old building I didn't know what the walls were made of and my dinosaur of a flat screen TV weighed a ton.
A couple at the gathering commented,
"What if you rolled it out on a cart like they did in school when we had to watch a movie in class?"

I thought - What a brilliant idea!

I found a cart at work and borrowed it for the show.

It all came together beautifully.
I want to show my video work in more art spaces like this.

Watch a short clip of my video installation at the gallery.

In the clip, above the TV display are two prints from another one of my video art pieces, Flower Arcade.

I'm playing around with the idea of taking images from my video art and making them into prints.
Let's see how that goes.

The Art of Presenting One's Self

Exhibited September 2021
MAMO Gallery
Omaha, Nebraska

How do you present yourself to the world?

The Art of Presenting One's Self (2021) is a mixed-media
installation grouped with photographic and silkscreen prints based on fashion, behavior economics and the environment. These works are inspired by my personal experience as a fashion consumer and as a fashion designer.

The installation is intended to showcase a cycle of fashion using one common material. Displayed in three parts, the jungle installation represents the start and end of the fashion cycle.

Presented like a department window display, it is to create a juxtaposition of how the

consumer is lured to shop and how fashion trends can be easily be disposed of back into the environment. The photographs illustrate the effect of product placement through an editorial and social influence layout.

Throughout the exhibit, I repurposed grocery bags and transformed them into individual variations of designer handbags. By creating a hand-drawn version of the luxury fashion logo, Louis Vuitton, I applied a separate process to each bag. This is to demonstrate mass production and the influence of brands ranging from counterfeit designer goods to hand-crafted work.

The exhibition invites the viewer to reflect on what pieces do you gravitate to and why.

Contemplate what brands influence you and how
do you use them to present yourself to the world.

Each bag was created by hand on repurposed paper bags and cardboard to demonstrate the craftsmanship that goes into each product and offer reflection things that are handmade with luxury labels.
