How does your location inspire you?

2/18/2022

Each week.....well, most weeks.....I draw a tarot card for weekly inspiration. Whether you are a fan of Tarot or not, I like to have fun collecting inspiration based on the card.

I pulled the Four of Wands. This card is about how your location and those you are surrounded by. How do your surroundings inspire you?
I'll admit, I'm still deep in hibernation mode and so my social outings have been limited.
This past weekend, there was some global warming weather, so I headed out for some adventures.

I headed downtown with the dog and my camera (yes, an actual camera) to do some Saturday wandering in hopes to snap some inspirational photos. However, it was incredibly windy, my dog really wasn't having a good time as there was a lack of trees to sniff in the downtown scene. I was hoping to stumble upon a gratiffi wall or something arty along the streets, but only I spotted was an empty bottle on a retail window sill.

That pretty much sums up the thrill of our excursion. I wish more businesses allowed dogs.

I was craving similiar explorations when I lived in places like Chicago or New York. Art appeared within brick walls and sat on street corners. There was always something unexpected.

That day, I would have no such luck. My dog seemed to know the direction of where I parked the car and we headed back home after our very, very short trip.

But she seemed to have made a few friends that day.

The following day I went record shopping with some friends at a hip new food court. Found a couple $5 - 10 gems for my collection and finished our crate digging by sitting outside and enjoying a beer.

When I'm home, I like to always have music on. Even if I'm not in the room. Music inspires me to create, relax, cook, unwind, rewind, reflect, etc.

By sticking with the theme on how my location inspires me, I figured my home was a good place to start!

If I want to get a project started, I just put on a playlist and put myself to work.

I started by re-arranging my records, then some wall art and then started creating some new art.

I have an attachment to some art that I make. Some I don't. I like the idea of repurposing a canvas and produce something new.

Last year, I painted a punk rock portrait of a Queen Elizabeth-like figure. (I had been watching alot of The Crown.) After re-arranging other wall decor and art, I decided she no longer fit the space of my living room or any room for that matter. It's a 4 x 5 ft canvas and I wanted to re-use rather than stick a dark corner of the basement.

By using left over black wall paint, I bid adieu to the Queen. I have yet to decide what will immerse out of my paintbrush.
Perhaps more weekend adventures are in order for inspiration?
